We come now to the fourth day of creation, and we are not reading some bland manufacturing schedule. God is not giving us the cosmic equivalent of an Ikea instruction manual. He is continuing his relentless challenge to every false religion the ancient world ever cooked up, and by extension, every false religion the modern world still clings to with both hands. If he does not worship the Creator, he will worship the creation. Sadly the heart is an idol factory and all parts of creation have been worshiped across the centuries, this includes the heavens above. The Egyptians bowed to Ra who is their sun idol. The Canaanites chased after Baal, often linked to solar power. And modern man, who thinks he has outgrown all that primitive nonsense, still has a daily horoscope in many major newspapers and App Stores.
