And at the heart of this practical wisdom is a fundamental, non-negotiable division. There is the path of life, and there is the path of death. There is no third way, no middle ground, no demilitarized zone. We want our wisdom to be inclusive, therapeutic, and affirming. But the wisdom of God is not like that. And in this one verse, Solomon lays out the fundamental choice that every man, woman, and child faces every single day. It is the choice between a teachable spirit and a stubborn one. It is the choice to receive correction or to reject it. And upon this choice hangs the destiny of our lives.
