We have become accustomed to a gospel that is marketed as a therapeutic additive to an otherwise comfortable life. It is presented as a way to have a better marriage, nicer kids, and a sunnier disposition. But the gospel that the Apostle Paul preached, the gospel that turned the world upside down, was not a velvet cushion. They are tempted to think that the chaos is ultimate, that the rebellion of man is the final word. But the apostle Paul, having just laid out the grim realities of the man of lawlessness, does not leave the church in a state of alarm. We come now to the end of Paul's second letter to the believers in Thessalonica. And like every good builder, the apostle Paul does not just walk away from the job site when the main construction is done.
